Cinnamon Spice Lip Balm + Exfoliating Lip Scrub

Cinnamon spice Lip balm

Melt coconut oil and beeswax in a pourable glass measuring cup in the microwave (I like to designate a measuring cup for melting beeswax because it’s not that easy to clean. Not impossible though!), stir every 30 seconds. Add a few shavings off a natural lipstick to melt in for color. Quickly add essential oils before wax hardens and pour into empty lip balm tubes or pots.homemade lip balm

One of the easiest things I’ve ever done is make my own lip balm! The amount of extra ingredients and yucky chemicals in chapstick is alarming! Once you gather your ingredients and essential oils of choice, making your own is so stinkin’ simple! I have found the best and most affordable place to buy everything is on Amazon and the small pots in the picture are from the 1.00 spot at Target. But I’ve also bought these on Amazon too. Trust me, If I can do it, you can do it! My kids also love helping me make this, AND they love using eating it, lol.

One time, my daughter and I made a batch especially for her and her brother and sister, and we used small recycled Play-Doh containers to pour their lip balm in. They absolutely loved choosing their own oils and have their own personal lip balm container. They were a little big, but next time I probably won’t fill them up as high 😉 When using all these plastic containers, we are careful not to use citrus essential oils, because they may eat through the plastic and contaminate the product.

This is such a simple gift to make for multiple people. And so inexpensive!

And here’s another idea… Why not pair a lip balm gift with an exfoliating lip scrub! This is similar to my body sugar scrub recipe, only it has one extra sweet ingredient– honey! When gifting the lip scrub I’ve simply used those plastic containers you can get for dressings or condiments. But you might be able to come up with something a little cuter 😉

Exfoliating lip scrub

Combine brown sugar, honey, olive oil, and essential oil in a small glass container and mix until a paste is formed. To use, gently rub onto lips in a circular motion, and then wipe or rinse off. Store in an airtight container.

*Do NOT use any citrus essential oils or blends, which could be too harsh on exfoliated skin.
